ROAD TRAFFIC OFFENCES

Divorce and separation

The breakdown of a relationship or marriage is likely to be charged with emotion, and will be an upsetting time for all involved. At S & H Law Practice, we will approach your situation with sympathy and professionalism - providing support and practical advice.

We can advise on all matters to do with divorce and separation, including financial arrangements, and residency and care of children.

Our comprehensive service will include everything from completing the divorce application, right through to receiving and forwarding on your divorce absolute.

Family mediation

A huge number of separating couples now attempt family mediation. This is a voluntary process that could help individuals reach a mutually acceptable arrangement in regard to a number of things - financial settlements, arrangements in relation to children, and asset division.

We understand that people going through separation are often emotionally-charged, and therefore our specially-trained mediators will act as a neutral facilitator as you work through any negotiations.

Family mediation is especially useful to parents, as their children are less likely to be involved in conflict,

Prenuptial agreements

Many couples feel that it is beneficial to have a prenuptial agreement in place prior to getting married.

A prenuptial agreement is usually focused on finances and capital assets, but can also include agreements on child care, and living arrangements.

Should the worst happen, and the relationship break down, a prenuptial agreement can vastly reduce a lengthy, emotional divorce process.

Cohabitation agreements

It's becoming ever-more popular for couples to live together, but never actually get married or enter a legal civil partnership.

Did you know that if you and your partner live together in this way, that you now have a limited financial claim between each other if you separate? In very limited circumstances a cohabitant may have a claim on the estate of their other cohabitant should they die, but this is very rare.

A cohabitation agreement could help clear things up, and ensure that both cohabitants have an equal claim to any assets that they have amassed during their time together.
